Youth & university entrepreneurship day highlights student innovation in Hungary

A platform for young entrepreneurs to learn, connect, and grow

Yesterday, the Youth & University Entrepreneurship Day brought together aspiring student founders, mentors, and industry experts at the Gellért Campus of Corvinus University in Budapest. The event featured the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA), providing a structured platform for student entrepreneurship, allowing participants to critically examine their business ideas, receive constructive feedback, and connect with experienced entrepreneurs and innovation leaders.

The Hungarian edition of GSEA was organised locally by Tech in the City, a key actor within Hungary’s startup and innovation ecosystem, with MeOut Group serving as a supporting partner. The event functioned as a national competition, a community-building platform, and a hub for media and content-driven engagement.

A national competition with global reach

Operating in over 50 countries worldwide, GSEA enables student entrepreneurs to participate in national and regional competitions, which culminate in the Global Finals, where the most promising student-led businesses are showcased on an international stage. Each year, more than 1,100 students take part globally, fostering connections across borders and strengthening the EU startup ecosystem.

In addition to the core competition, the event was embedded in the wider entrepreneurial ecosystem through collaborations with international startup communities such as Startup Grind and European startup media platforms, ensuring knowledge exchange, visibility, and long-term impact for participants.

Inspiring discussions at YUE Day

Beyond the competition pitches, YUE Day also featured engaging panel discussions exploring the intersection of education, entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability.

One of the central discussions, “Talents of Tomorrow: The Future of Education and Entrepreneurship,” examined how universities, ecosystems, and innovation stakeholders can better prepare young people for rapidly changing labour markets. Another key theme of the event focused on sustainability in both profit and non-profit organisations, highlighting how long-term impact, responsible growth, and social value creation are becoming fundamental pillars of modern entrepreneurship.

Strong jury representation and ecosystem leadership

The competition was evaluated by a distinguished jury composed of leading figures from Hungary’s entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem.

We’re especially proud that our Innovation Manager, Tüske Tamás, joined the jury alongside outstanding leaders such as:

  • Dr. Szakacsits Renáta, Managing Director, Szakacsits Ventures

  • Csillag Péter, HunBan El Presidente, angel investor, “Cápa”

  • Vékási Tamás, CEO, EY Magyarország

  • Záborszky Péter, Serial Entrepreneur and Head Judge

Their collective expertise ensured a rigorous and inspiring evaluation process, providing constructive feedback and valuable guidance to the participating student entrepreneurs.

Looking ahead

YUE Day once again demonstrated how collaboration between universities, innovation leaders, investors, and supporting partners such as MeOut Group can create meaningful opportunities for the next generation of entrepreneurs.

We look forward to seeing how this year’s participants continue to develop their ventures and contribute to shaping the future of education-driven innovation.
