On 4 June 2026, MeOut Group, together with the AVET - Alliance for Vocational Education and Training, participated in a high-level networking forum in Brussels, Belgium, organised by the British Council.
The event brought together stakeholders from vocational education and training (VET), higher education, adult learning, and youth work to discuss the future of UK-EU educational cooperation and prepare for the United Kingdom’s expected return to the Erasmus+ programme in 2027.
The forum created an important platform for dialogue on how institutions across Europe can strengthen partnerships, rebuild international networks, and create new opportunities for learners, educators, and organisations.
Since the United Kingdom's departure from Erasmus+, educational institutions and organisations across Europe have faced new challenges in maintaining international cooperation and mobility opportunities.
The Brussels forum focused on how the sector can prepare for a potential new phase of collaboration, ensuring that partnerships are ready to take advantage of future opportunities as soon as they become available.
Participants explored topics including:
The discussions highlighted the importance of long-term planning, trust-building, and cross-border collaboration in creating resilient and future-oriented education systems.
One of the most significant aspects of the forum was the diversity of organisations represented.
Participants from higher education, vocational education and training, adult education, and youth work shared perspectives on the opportunities and challenges ahead, creating valuable exchanges across sectors that do not always have the opportunity to collaborate directly.
Throughout the discussions, a common theme emerged: while political frameworks may evolve, the demand for international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and educational mobility remains stronger than ever.
There was a clear recognition that rebuilding and expanding UK-EU partnerships will require preparation and dialogue, but also a shared commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for future generations.
For MeOut, participating in discussions such as these is an important part of our commitment to supporting international education, skills development, and cross-border cooperation.
As Europe continues to navigate new economic, technological, and societal challenges, initiatives that connect institutions, educators, and learners across borders play a vital role in strengthening competitiveness and innovation.
The forum reinforced the importance of collaboration between education sectors and demonstrated how international partnerships can contribute to building a more connected, skilled, and resilient Europe.
The conversations started in Brussels are expected to continue over the coming months and years as organisations across Europe and the United Kingdom work together to shape the future of educational cooperation.
At MeOut, we are proud to be part of that journey.
