MeOut Group brings together VET experts in Greece to strengthen international work-based learning

International VET experts gathered in Platamonas to improve tutor assessment skills in work-based learning

Between 21-24 May 2026, partners and vocational education stakeholders of the Enhancing Assessment Skills of In-company Tutors Hosting International Students for Improved Work-based Learning Evaluation (EASI) project gathered in Platamonas, Greece for the project’s second capacity building seminar.

The seminar focused on strengthening the competences of in-company tutors, mentors, and vocational education professionals involved in hosting international students within work-based learning and mobility programmes.

By bringing together institutional representatives, educators, and vocational training experts from different countries, the initiative created space for the exchange of good practices, policy discussions, and practical approaches to improving the quality of international vocational education experiences.

Strengthening tutor competences in international work-based learning

As international mobility programmes continue to grow across Europe, the role of tutors and mentors within vocational education has become increasingly important.

The seminar addressed how assessment methods, institutional support systems, and policy frameworks can better support both tutors and international learners in real workplace environments.

The programme included several thematic sessions, including:

Session 1 - The role of in-company tutors in international work-based learning

Participants explored the evolving role of tutors in supporting international students during mobility experiences, with discussions focusing on communication, guidance, assessment, and intercultural learning.

Session 2 - Comparative national perspectives on tutor support and assessment

This session created space for participants to compare approaches used across different vocational education systems, identifying both shared challenges and transferable good practices.

Session 3 - Policy assessment workshop: from regulations to real practice

The workshop focused on bridging the gap between formal regulations and the realities faced by tutors and institutions during international work-based learning activities.

Institutional visits and exchange of practices in Greece

In addition to the seminar sessions, participants took part in institutional visits designed to strengthen cooperation between education providers, businesses, and regional stakeholders.

The programme included:

  • An institutional visit to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pieria
  • An institutional visit to Platon Private School

These visits provided participants with practical insights into how vocational education institutions and regional organisations collaborate to support mobility, skills development, and workplace learning.

Expanding international cooperation beyond Europe

Alongside the activities in Greece, the broader international cooperation connected to MeOut’s educational and vocational initiatives continues to expand globally.

Recently, project-related activities also included:

  • A biomapping study visit in Accra, Ghana, focused on agricultural topics and sustainability
  • A business mission in Arusha, Tanzania, connected to the veterinary sector and vocational education exchange

Looking ahead, additional study visits in Sierra Leone and Nigeria are planned for June 2026, with a continued focus on agriculture, vocational education, skills development, and international cooperation.

These initiatives reflect the growing importance of connecting vocational education systems across regions and creating stronger partnerships between institutions, industries, and communities worldwide.

Building stronger international VET ecosystems

The EASI project highlights how improving tutor competences and strengthening assessment methods can contribute to more effective, inclusive, and impactful international mobility experiences.

At MeOut, we believe that international collaboration in vocational education is essential for developing future-ready skills, improving educational quality, and strengthening long-term cooperation between education and industry partners across Europe and beyond.

This project is co-funded by the European Union.
