EU-Startups Summit 2026 brings together global innovation leaders in Malta

MeOut Group connects startups, investors, and ecosystems during Europe’s leading innovation gathering

Held on 7-8 May in Malta, the EU-Startups Summit 2026 once again positioned itself as one of Europe’s leading events for startups, investors, founders, and innovation ecosystem leaders. The summit gathered thousands of participants for two days of networking, startup pitches, ecosystem collaboration, and international innovation dialogue.

As the parent company of EU-Startups and majority shareholder of the Global Startup Awards, MeOut Group was present throughout the summit with its own booth, connecting with founders, investors, policymakers, ecosystem builders, and partners from across Europe and beyond.

AlterEcho wins the EU-Startups Summit 2026 pitch competition

One of the major highlights of the summit was the highly anticipated pitch competition, where 15 startups took the Main Stage to present innovative solutions shaping the future of technology and entrepreneurship.

The finalists represented sectors ranging from CleanTech and DroneTech to AI and HealthTech, demonstrating the diversity and strength of Europe’s startup ecosystem. Startups pitching during the competition included Agilica, Agnia Aerospace, AlterEcho, Arclight Aerospace, Asvel, Cooled Motors, DAITABLE, eMomentum, Entrelacs, Muun Health, Snoika, Systellar Space, Vecify, Warden Machinery, and Xydra Labs.

After an exceptionally competitive final, AlterEcho was announced as the winner of the EU-Startups Summit 2026 pitch competition.

Founded in Denmark in 2025, AlterEcho is developing a robotic embodiment platform for the life sciences sector, combining robotic avatars and AI agents to support remote work in cleanrooms and hazardous environments. The company’s technology aims to eliminate the risk of human contamination in pharmaceutical and medical settings while enabling operators to perform complex procedures remotely with precision and spatial awareness.

Global Startup Awards Global Grand Finale takes place during the summit

The first day of the summit also hosted the Global Startup Awards Global Grand Finale, marking a historic moment for the international startup ecosystem.

The 11th edition of the Global Startup Awards concluded after receiving more than 71,000 nominations worldwide, narrowing the competition down to 181 global finalists from 65 countries. This edition became the most internationally diverse in the history of the awards, with representation across six continents.

For the first time, the Global Grand Finale was fully integrated into the EU-Startups Summit, bringing together two major global startup platforms under one roof through the collaboration led by MeOut Group.

The competition now spans 156 countries through nine regional competitions, strengthening global visibility and cross-border collaboration across startup ecosystems worldwide.

During the awards ceremony, 13 global winners were recognised for their outstanding contributions to innovation, entrepreneurship, investment, and ecosystem development.

African-Startups.com officially launched in Malta

The final day of the EU-Startups Summit 2026 also marked the official launch of African-Startups.com, a new media platform created by MeOut Group.

As a sister brand of EU-Startups, the platform is dedicated to covering startups, venture capital, entrepreneurship, and innovation ecosystems across Africa.

The initiative aims to provide greater visibility to African founders, companies, and ecosystem developments through internationally accessible and context-driven reporting. By expanding its media presence into Africa, MeOut Group continues strengthening global connections between innovation ecosystems and supporting international entrepreneurial collaboration.

Strengthening Europe’s and the world’s innovation ecosystem

The EU-Startups Summit 2026 demonstrated how collaboration between founders, investors, media platforms, and ecosystem builders can strengthen both regional and global innovation ecosystems.

Through the integration of the Global Startup Awards, the launch of African-Startups.com, and the continued growth of the summit itself, MeOut Group continues to reinforce its commitment to supporting entrepreneurship, innovation, and ecosystem development across Europe and beyond.
