EDUVETerinary - Improving the EDUcation of Veterinary Assistants in Africa Through International Cooperation is an Erasmus+ Capacity Building in the field of Vocational Education and Training (CB-VET) project funded by the European Union. It aims to strengthen veterinary education systems in Sub-Saharan Africa by enhancing the quality, relevance, and practical focus of training for veterinary assistants through international partnership, curriculum modernisation, and hands-on learning activities.

The project is implemented by a multilateral partnership that includes European and African institutions and organisations with expertise in veterinary education, animal health, and vocational training. Through collaborative activities, such as practical bootcamps, advanced training, and curriculum development, EDUVETerinary fosters sustainable cooperation between VET providers, industry stakeholders, and training professionals across continents.

Objectives

EDUVETerinary’s overall objectives include:

  • Strengthening the capacity of veterinary assistant VET systems in partner countries by updating curricula, modernising teaching practices, and supporting institutional development.
  • Enhancing practical and work-based learning, equipping learners and educators with hands-on skills that respond to local animal health and community needs.
  • Promoting international cooperation and exchange between African and European VET stakeholders to share best practices, knowledge, and innovation in veterinary education.
  • Improving professional competencies of teachers and students in veterinary assistance through advanced training, bootcamps, and expert-led sessions.
  • Supporting sustainable livestock health, welfare, and food security outcomes by ensuring veterinary assistants are well-trained and aligned with regional health needs.

The EDUVETerinary project is funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme. Through its collaborative and practical approach, the project contributes to building resilient, forward-looking VET systems that empower veterinary professionals and strengthen animal health services in participating regions.
