MeOut Summit 2026: Your guide to visiting Budapest

Your Budapest guide: what to see, where to stay, and how to make the most of your Summit experience

Budapest is getting ready to welcome the international startup and innovation community for MeOut Summit, taking place on 25-26 November 2026 at Akvárium Klub. If you're travelling to the Hungarian capital for the event, it's the perfect opportunity to meet fellow innovators, explore the city, and experience everything Budapest has to offer.

Whether you're visiting for the first time or returning for another trip, a little planning can help you make the most of your stay. From getting around the city to discovering its landmarks, local cuisine, and lively nightlife, here's our guide to visiting Budapest during MeOut Summit.

Getting to Budapest and getting around

Budapest is served by Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD), which connects the city with destinations across Europe and beyond.

One convenient way to reach the city centre from the airport is the 100E Airport Express, which runs directly to central Budapest. Keep in mind that this service requires a dedicated airport bus ticket.

Once you're in the city, public transport makes it easy to explore. Budapest has an extensive network of metro lines, trams, and buses, while the BudapestGO app helps visitors plan journeys and purchase eligible tickets.

Where to stay during MeOut Summit

Choosing accommodation near the city centre can make your Summit experience more convenient, leaving you with more time for meetings, sightseeing, and spontaneous networking.

Here are three central neighbourhoods worth considering:

  • District V: Ideal for visitors who want to stay close to major landmarks, restaurants, and the Danube.
  • District VI: A central area with cafés, cultural attractions, and convenient transport connections.
  • District VII: Known for its lively nightlife, restaurants, and famous ruin bars, making it a popular choice for visitors who want to experience Budapest after dark.

Since November is a busy period for travel planning, booking accommodation in advance is a good idea.

Five Budapest landmarks you shouldn't miss

If you have a few hours before the Summit or decide to extend your stay, Budapest offers plenty to explore.

Eat, drink, and experience local culture

A visit to Budapest wouldn't be complete without discovering its food scene and local traditions.

  • Try Hungarian cuisine. Sample traditional goulash or lángos, a popular fried flatbread with a variety of toppings.
  • Visit a traditional café. Budapest's historic coffeehouse culture makes it a great place to slow down over coffee and cake.
  • Explore the Jewish Quarter. Discover independent bars, restaurants, and the city's famous ruin bars.
  • Visit a thermal bath. If you have extra time, Budapest's historic thermal baths offer a relaxing way to experience one of the city's best-known traditions.

November is also a good time to plan indoor activities, particularly if the weather turns cold or rainy.

What to pack for Budapest in November

Late autumn in Budapest can be chilly, so prepare for changing weather and spend some time checking the forecast before departure.

We recommend bringing:

  • A warm coat and layers that you can easily adjust throughout the day.
  • Comfortable, weather-appropriate walking shoes.
  • An umbrella or waterproof jacket.
  • Smart-casual clothing for networking, meetings, and Summit activities.

With the right preparation, you can comfortably move between the conference, city attractions, and evening plans.

Make the most of your MeOut Summit experience

Budapest is more than the destination for MeOut Summit. It's where founders, investors, corporate leaders, researchers, policymakers, and ecosystem builders will come together to exchange ideas and create new opportunities.

At MeOut Summit, we're bringing together the people shaping the future of innovation, with a focus on meaningful connections and collaboration across Europe and beyond.

As you plan your trip, consider arriving a little earlier or staying an extra day. You might discover a new favourite place, meet a future collaborator over coffee, or continue a conversation that started at the Summit.
