Title: Step In Their Shoes #2: Running – Northern Ireland
Venue:  6 days staying in Bushmill and 2 days running and staying in Belfast.

Participant description:

The background of participants is youth (18-30 years) that are willing to develop empathy in order to be more inclusive and tolerant. Youth that are ready to address or perhaps face(d) themselves racial and religious discrimination. Youth that open minded, care about nearby neighborhood, local, regional, national and international communities and are sensitive to human right issues.

Project description:

We invite you to literally RUN in their shoes in Northern Ireland

Step In Their Shoes is developing the project to step in a variety of different shoes through our KING methodology: Knowledge, Involvement, Nature, Growth.
Overall Focus:
-To reach personal development which helps to understand ourselves and reflect on own behavior and behavior of others
-Challenge the perception of the structures within our society that undermine social inclusion or foster discrimination
-Overcoming the stereotypes of different religion
-To raise awareness on the topic of discrimination
-To build a broader understanding of what an inclusive attitude means and to start intercultural and inter-religious dialogue
-To understand the connections between culture and sport and to understand the intercultural aspects of sport
-To raise the sense of empathy towards other people

WORKING METHODS

-Experiential learning with hiking and sports
-Group dynamic processes, simulations and teamwork activities
-Inputs from experts through non-formal education lectures and facilitated processes
-Theater sketches
-Dynamic workshops and presentations
-Outdoor environmental work and assignments
-Intercultural sharings, learnings and reflections
-Learning by doing in a group setting or individual processes.

Health insurance is not provided by the organizers and will not be reimbursed. All participants are required to purchase health insurance individually.

Financial matters:
 Accommodation, food, local transportation during the activity days, materials for activities are totally covered by the grant of the Erasmus+ Program.
Important: keep all the invoices and boarding passes.
Marathon: £30 participation fee for the marathon (The marathon price is £45, but it is covered by £30 fee).

Please, donate 10 000 HUF (Hungarian organization) in case of selection.

You will be reimbursed with 80% of your travel costs up to 275 euro. Reimbursement of travel costs will only be done upon full attendance in the youth exchange and presentation of the original tickets with boarding passes and receipt/invoices. Remember that you can travel only with the cheapest means of transport (2nd class trains, economy class in the planes).
Reimbursements will be given in British pounds currency on the last day of the YE.

INTERCULTURAL EVENING

One of the evenings will be dedicated to the Intercultural Evening. You will present your own cultures – national, regional, personal or any kind of culture you feel you belong. This presentations/activity should not be just a “lecture” so try to find most creative way to show your culture. It means that all options are possible.
A culture may be presented by a song, a story, a poem, a dance, some local special drinks and food !
You can bring pictures, music or anything which you consider to be most appropriate to present your culture. Bring CDs of traditional/typical and party music or other things typical from your country that you want to share with us during the Evening of Cultures and during other evenings.
